Rev. Meggers will accompany the group on an inspiring journey to the actual places where the Apostle Paul lived and preached God’s word!

This amazing man, moved by the Holy Spirit preached the “Good News” to Jews and Gentiles.

Traveling along the major trade routes of the Roman Empire and visiting large thriving communities of Asia Minor and Greece his mission was accomplished; Christianity become the most widespread religion in the world.

Travel with our Bible-oriented guides down timeless roads, take time to pray and rejoice in the ancient biblical sites, visit thousand-year-old churches and temples, and encounter a unique spiritual experience that will help you to better understand the miracle of Christianity.

ITINERARY

Day 1               Depart USA to Athens, Greece

Day 2               Arrival Athens (D)

Upon arrival at Athens airport, you will collect your checked luggage, complete the immigrations and passport check, and be met by our professional tour manager who will be waiting for your group.   

The tour manager will accompany the group to the awaiting private motor coach for your transfer to Athens and accompany the group throughout the Greece land tour.  Along the way the tour manager will point out some of the major historic sites and landmarks of Athens.  You will check in to the hotel and have time to refresh before meeting this evening for our welcome to Greece group dinner.  Dinner and overnight Athens

Day 3               Athens (B, D)

Our sightseeing of Athens begins with the important archaeological sites in the city, the Acropolis and Mars Hill where St. Paul preached “So they took Paul and brought him in front of the city council, the Areopagus, and said…”(Act 17:19). See places of interest like the Academy, Greek Parliament, National Library, Temple of Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium and the Royal Palace. See also the Roman Cathedral of St. Dennis “Some men joined him and believed, among whom was Dionysius…” (Act 17:34). This evening our group will have dinner at one of the local restaurants.  Afternoon is at leisure to shop or just relax.  Dinner and overnight Athens

Day 4               Veria, Thessaloniki (B, D)

Today we will drive north to Thessaloniki passing through the amazing nature of the country. We will visit Veria (Berea) “As soon as night came, the believers sent Paul to Berea” (Act 17:10). We will see the Bema where Paul found people who eagerly received his message, “examining the Scriptures daily to see if what Paul said was true” (Acts 17:11). We’ll continue to Thessaloniki, the Capital of Macedonia where “Paul and Silas traveled on through Amphipolis and came to Thessalonika’’ (Act 17:1) We will have a panoramic tour. Day 5               Kavala, Philippi (B, D)

Today you visit the town of Philippi, named after Philip of Macedonia, father of Alexander the Great. In Philippi, Paul had saved the servant women of evil spirit “In the name of Jesus Christ I order you to come out of her…”(Act 16:18) and as result were thrown with Silas into jail “After a severe beating they were thrown into jail…” (Acts 16:23). We’ll visit the place where Lydia had been baptized “One of those who heard us was Lydia. After she and the people of her house had been baptized…” (Act 16:14-15). Visit the modern city of Kavala, ancient Neapolis, the sea port where “Paul had arrived from Troas through Samothrace” (Act 16:11) and the St. Nicolas church, with its unique mosaic. Day 6               Thessaloniki, Kalabaka (B, D)

This day we will explore the second largest city in Greece, Thessaloniki, where St. Paul preached and founded a church and to whom he wrote two epistles (Acts 17:1-9; 1 Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians). We will see the White Tower, the Arch of Galerius, the churches of St. Demetrius and St. Sophia, the Roman Forum and Rotunda. Continue to Kalabaka.  Dinner and overnight Kalabaka

Day 7               Meteora, Delphi (B, D)

Today we will visit the unique hanging Byzantine monasteries from the medieval centuries at Meteora, where we will visit one of them. Meteora Monasteries located among striking scenery, perched on top of the huge rocks where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art of the 11th century and are accessible only by stairs or pathways into the rock. We’ll continue our journey to Delphi, the center of the ancient world and location of the Temple of Apollo. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of this ancient temple. We visit the archeological site and museum.  We continue on to Athens. Day 8   4-Night Greek Island Cruise, Mykonos Island (B, L, D)

After breakfast at the hotel your tour manager will escort the group to the port to board the ship for your 4-night Greek Island Cruise. Celestyal Cruises, Olympia ship, visit http://americas.celestyalcruises.com/en

This afternoon you will embark on your first port of call, the mountainous island of Mykonos, with options to purchase an escorted shore excursion or enjoy the island on your own.  After your visit to the island, you will return to the ship for dinner and the evening entertainment.  The Celestyal Olympia ship offers a variety of dining experiences and evening entertainment.   There are several restaurants serving fine international and Greek Cuisine.  For more casual dining visit the buffet dining.  This evening the ship cruises to the next port of call.  Overnight ship

Day 9               Ephesus, Patmos, Including Shore Excursions (B, L, D)

Today we visit the Turkish port of Kusadasi, enjoy the included excursion to the ancient ruins of Ephesus, whose inhabitants were the recipients of Apostle Paul’s famous epistle (Acts 18:19-26).  Return to the ship early afternoon and continue on to Patmos. 

In Patmos, you will disembark the ship for an included excursion to the Monastery of St. John and the Cave of the Apocalypse, where John the Evangelist wrote the Book of the Revelation during his exile (Rev. 1:9-11). Overnight ship

Day 10             Rhodes (B, L, D)

Travels today take you to the unique island of Rhodes.  Options to purchase an escorted shore excursion. Visit the location where Paul stopped on his way back to Palestine (Acts 21: 1) for his trial and imprisonment.  Or, you may enjoy the island at your leisure, shop in the marketplace or sunbathing at the beach. Return to the ship for dinner and evening entertainment.  Overnight Olympia ship

Day 11             Crete Including Shore Excursion, Santorini (B, L, D)

The ship arrives at the island of Crete where Paul arrived as a prisoner on his way to Rome and the final chapter of his life.  Paul revisited the island of Crete before his death, placing Titus in charge of the church he founded.  You will visit these sites on the included group shore excursion.  Everyone will return to the ship for the afternoon cruise to the picturesque island of Santorini, an island in the Cyclades also known as Thira.  You may explore the island on your own or choose to purchase a shore excursion.  You will return for dinner on board before the ship sets sail to Athens.  Disembarkation directions provide by Celestyal Cruises.  Overnight ship

Day 12             Corinth, Athens (B, D)

After breakfast, the group will disembark the ship.  Our private motorcoach and professional tour guide will be waiting to escort the group for the day.   You will begin your day with a drive along the coastal road to Corinth where Paul established a thriving church and wrote 2 of the epistles.  Continue along to the wonderful beach of Kinetta, make a brief stop at the amazing Corinth Canal and from there to ancient Corinth. Visit the Museum, the Bema where “Paul gave his whole time to preaching the message...” (Act 18:5), along with the Doric Temple of Apollo, the Asklepion and the Agora. Paul stayed in Corinth for one and a half years “So Paul stayed there for a year and a half…” (Act 18:11). Afterwards we see the port of Cenchreae where he sailed to reach Ephesus.  You will visit the sites where Paul walked and preached: the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the roman Odeon and the Bema.  The group returns to Athens.  This evening we enjoy our group farewell dinner at a local restaurant in Athens. Day 13             Group Transfer to Athens Airport (B)

The group will transfer from the hotel to Athens Airport for departure.

Most sightseeing tours are walking tours 2-3 miles per day. The historic sites you will visit date back hundreds of years and may not provide elevators and ramps, and may require walking on uneven ground of stones and dirt. Deposit of $350 per person due at time of registration (see link below)
