St. Martin’s Youth age 16-18 years of age are invited to join the summer travel journey of discovery and enlightenment. Learn more about Ancient Greece, Early Christianity and the Missionary Journey of St. Paul as you embark on this 7-Night Antiquities of Greece tour.

This custom-design unique travel itinerary is filled with exciting activities, fascinating special events and educational sightseeing. The St. Martin’s staff will accompany the youth group, providing chaperones and qualified adult supervision from the day of departure until the return flight home. A LutherTours professional European Tour Manager will accompany the group to ensure a care-free and relaxing Greece tour experience.

Youth ages 16-18 years of age are welcome to join the tour and share this life-enriching European travel experience. TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1 Depart USA to Athens, Greece

Day 2 Arrival Athens (D)

Upon arrival at Athens airport, you will collect your checked luggage, complete the immigrations and passport check, and be met by our professional tour manager who will be waiting for your group. The tour manager will accompany the group to the awaiting private motor coach for your transfer to Athens and accompany the group throughout the Greece land tour. Along the way the tour manager will point out some of the major historic sites and landmarks of Athens. You will check in to the hotel and this evening meet for our welcome to Greece group dinner. Dinner and overnight Athens

Day 3 Athens (B, D)

Our sightseeing of Athens begins with the important archaeological sites in the city, hike the Acropolis to the Parthenon, visit Mars Hill where St. Paul preached “So they took Paul and brought him in front of the city council, the Areopagus, and said…”(Act 17:19). See the many other sites of historic value- the Academy, Greek Parliament, National Library, Temple of Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium and the Royal Palace, the Roman Cathedral of St. Dennis “Some men joined him and believed, among whom was Dionysius…” (Act 17:34). This evening the group will have free time in Plaka District for shopping and fun. Dinner and overnight Athens

Day 4 Corinth, Mycenae (B, D)

After breakfast, the group departs for a drive along the coastal road to Corinth where Paul established a thriving church and wrote 2 of the epistles. Along the way we stop to view the amazing Corinth Canal and from there to ancient Corinth. Here we visit the places where Paul walked and preached- the Bema where “Paul gave his whole time to preaching the message...” (Act 18:5), the Asklepion and the Agora and the Temple of Apollo. Our guide will lead us through the Archeological Museum of Corinth. Before returning to Athens the group will visit nearby Mycenae and the Mycenaean Civilization Center. Here we view the Lion’s Gate, the Subterranean Cistern, the Tomb of Agamemnon and part of the Cyclopean Walls that surrounded and protected the old city. Dinner and overnight Athens

Day 5 Delphi, Meteora (B, D)

Delphi, the center of the ancient world and location of the Temple of Apollo. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of this ancient temple. We visit the archeological site and museum. We continue on to visit the unique hanging Byzantine Monasteries located in the cliffs from the medieval centuries at Meteora and visit one of the ancient caves. Time for trekking in this amazing area, the coach will drop off at one point and pick up at the other side. The Meteora Monasteries are located among striking scenery, perched on top of the huge rocks where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art of the 11th century and are accessible only by stairs or pathways into the rock. Day 6 Veria, Thessaloniki (B, D)

Today we drive north to Thessaloniki passing through the amazing nature of the country. We will visit Veria (Berea) “As soon as night came, the believers sent Paul to Berea” (Act 17:10). We will see the Bema where Paul found people who eagerly received his message, “examining the Scriptures daily to see if what Paul said was true” (Acts 17:11). We’ll continue to Thessaloniki, the Capital of Macedonia where “Paul and Silas traveled on through Amphipolis and came to Thessalonika’’ (Act 17:1). Our tour manager will lead us on a panoramic tour of the city. Dinner and overnight Thessaloniki

Day 7 Kavala, Philippi (B, D)

Our journey continues to the town of Philippi, named after Philip of Macedonia, father of Alexander the Great. In Philippi, Paul had saved the servant women of evil spirit “In the name of Jesus Christ I order you to come out of her…”(Act 16:18) and as result were thrown with Silas into jail “After a severe beating they were thrown into jail…” (Acts 16:23). We’ll visit the place where Lydia had been baptized “One of those who heard us was Lydia. After she and the people of her house had been baptized…” (Act 16:14-15). Also visit the modern city of Kavala, ancient Neapolis, the sea port where “Paul had arrived from Troas through Samothrace” (Act 16:11) and the St. Nicolas church, with its unique mosaic. Day 8 Methoni- Pydna Beach, Greek Cultural Dance Performance (B, D)

Methoni- Pydna Beach time to relax and enjoy a swim. This is the location where Paul secretly arrived from Veria and from here sailed to Athens. This evening the group will attend a cultural Greek dancing performance. Dinner and overnight Athens.

Day 9 Group Transfer to Athens Airport (B)

The group will transfer from the hotel to Athens airport for departure flight to U.S.A.

All travelers must travel with a passport valid for at least 6-months beyond the return travel date.

TOUR PRICE Per Person based on Double or Triple Occupancy

$3,290 per person with minimum of 9 travelers

$2,990 per person with minimum of 12 travelers

$2,890 per person with minimum of 15 travelers

GROUP AIRFARE FROM CHARLOTTE, NC based on a minimum of 10 travelers

Economy Group Airfare $1,450 per person including 1 checked bag, 1 carry-on bag and seat assignment will be advised.

PAYMENTS

Nonrefundable Deposit $350 per person and complete tour registration form to confirm.

Balance due no later than April 24. Final invoice will be provided prior to final payment due date based on the number of travelers and include any applicable credit for fund-raising contributions.

Most sightseeing tours are walking tours and the historic sites you will visit date back hundreds of years and may not provide such amenities as elevators and ramps for the physically challenged. If you or you will be traveling with someone who has special needs (use a wheelchair, walker), hearing or visually impaired please contact LutherTours.

Tour Gratuities approx. $70 per person paid to the professional European service providers directly.

Travel Insurance from $280 per person.
